General Information
We are pleased to announce that the 2018 International Symposium on Thin Slab Casting and Direct Rolling (TSCR) will be held on April 25-27th, 2018 in Wuhan, China. It is organized by the Chinese Society for metals and BAOWU Steel Group.
Since the world’s first production line of TSCR was put into operation in Crawfordsville, USA by Nucor Steel in 1989, 67 lines and 102 strands have been built globally so far and the annual production capacity exceeds 110 million tons. Among those, 16 lines and 31 strands are in China, which brings an annual capacity of over 40 million tons. TSCR has become a key technology for producing hot rolled strips.
Currently, various technologies based on TSCR have been developed, such as CSP, ISP, CONROLL, QSP, FTSR, ASP and ESP. Those distinctive TSCR technologies have been industrialized in various degrees. Moreover, the continuous rolling on the product line is significantly improved. In recent 3 years, the endless rolling processing is developed rapidly in China, which draws much attention. In addition, the steel companies are endeavoring to explore TSCR and have developed a series of new products.
With 30 years’ development, TSCR technology is of pivotal importance in steel industry. The “green manufacturing and development” required by the steel industry brings new opportunities to the TSCR technology. Thus, we organize the TSCR 2018 to promote the exchange on TSCR. It will highlight recent progress, challenges and future development in all aspects of TSCR. To ensure a high level and high quality forum, famous experts and scholars in this field will be invited to present lectures and share experience on the state-of-the-art and cutting edge of TSCR. We believe that it will provide a great opportunity to learn and exchange information on all aspects of TSCR.
